Denver Fertility is proud to announce the attainment of our Joint Commission laboratory accreditation! In this blog post, we will discuss what that means for our clinic and our patients…

We are very excited to announce that we have passed our initial Joint Commission survey with flying colors. Denver Fertility is now an officially accredited IVF laboratory! For those of you who may not know, The Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO / TJC) is an independent organization that certifies and accredits health care programs in the United States. TJC sends professional inspectors to laboratories across the country to ensure that their staff, facilities, and procedures meet the exceptionally high standards of TJC which greatly exceed the regulations set forth by state and federal government. There is no requirement for IVF labs to be accredited, however, we feel strongly that accountability to a third-party organization is a core component towards conveying our commitment to exceptional quality to our patients.

Maintaining quality across all aspects of the fertility laboratory is of utmost importance to us. It allows us to achieve and maintain high success rates, which means more healthy babies for our patients! At the end of the day, doing our best is always our #1 goal. While we have always held ourselves to the same high standards, patients can now rest assured that an independent organization has also certified that we are meeting over 600 explicitly defined performance standards. Gaining this accreditation is something that Denver Fertility has been working diligently towards since the planning stages of our state-of-the-art laboratory. We were quite fortunate to be able to hold our initial survey prior to yet another wave of travel constraints due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Finally achieving this goal was one of the best Christmas presents we could have hoped for!

To further convey our commitment to quality, it is important to mention that Denver Fertility also submits to the Society of Assisted Reproduction Technology (SART), the only organization in the United States working to ensure accurate, transparent, and truthful reporting of IVF success rates. This voluntary accountability opens Denver Fertility’s doors to SART auditors for the sole purpose of ensuring the integrity of our CDC success rates. Regrettably, this is a public service that CDC is unable to perform due to legislated budget restrictions. With our SART membership, you can be confident that our exceptional 2019 success rates will provide you with realistic expectations for your personal fertility journey.

Since we know that Colorado has many IVF clinics for patients to choose from, we want patients to have continued certainty that the Denver Fertility laboratory is maintaining standards above and beyond the legislated regulations. The standards maintained by SART and TJC serve to support the immense value we place on continued excellence. Denver Fertility is very proud of the quality of care that we have accomplished, and we commit to you that we will push that bar higher every single day.
