Meet Our Embryology Lab Director
Dr. Michael Baker serves Denver Fertility as our Embryology Laboratory Director and the Lead Embryologist. He has been intently focused on Embryology since the day he first witnessed a sperm fertilize an egg over ten years ago.
Michael majored in Genetics at Texas A&M University and subsequently obtained his Ph.D. in Reproductive Biology from U.T. Southwestern Medical Center. His dissertation research focused on the identification of genes which contribute to optimal sperm and egg formation. Michael worked closely with the nationally renown Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility fellowship program at UT Southwestern to gain a unique perspective for an embryologist. This early clinical exposure truly emphasized the challenges and stresses faced by fertility patients. Keeping this in mind, Michael strives everyday to meet the highest of laboratory benchmark standards, without compromise, to provide exceptional patient care.
Michael completed his embryology training at the largest, most successful, IVF clinic in all of Florida. He optimized his technical skill set (including ICSI and embryo biopsy) while managing a team of ten exceptional embryologists. Dr. Baker is certified by the American Board of Bioanalysts as a Technical Supervisor in Embryology and as a High-complexity Clinical Laboratory Director. In 2020, Dr. Baker was elected as President of the Colorado Association of Reproductive Biologists (CART), a regional professional organization of over 50 embryologists dedicated to continued education and improvement of fertility treatment across the state of Colorado.
Dr. Baker’s top priorities at Denver Fertility revolve around exceptional laboratory communication with patients and persistent quality improvement. IVF patients at Denver Fertility can expect multiple opportunities to discuss their laboratory journey with Dr. Baker, both before and after treatment. Nothing makes his day more than a visit from a baby he once cared for as an embryo!
